For the purposes of our website, the “salary” entry is the amount of compensation including both base salary and housing allowance, but excluding other non-salary benefits like insurances, expense allowances, etc.
For benefits, we found in our research that the comparisons were not like to like. For example, one church might pay $10K for a health insurance benefit that is employee-only while another church might pay 3 times that, but have it cover family medical, too. For that reason, we found dollars amounts for the benefits were not specific enough and were therefore not helpful. So we currently do not have a way to see total benefits expenses or total compensation.
